Yo
Oh man, got sucked into the freenode takeover drama from last year this morning. Did I want to read several articles on it? Not really. But that's the burden I bear as the curator. Not going to link it so you don't get needlessly tempted. I've seen the click rates. You guys and gals are just as susceptible to drama and click-bait titles as everyone else.
A reader brought up the fact (which I hadn't thought of) that on mobile clicking the last link automatically downloaded the research paper for you. They suggested that I add PDF to the title as a warning when that's the case. I thought it was a great idea, and I'll do it going forward, because I also feel a slight discomfort when a link makes me download something without any warning.
Anyway, here's the issue.

Ok as a heads up, this article is definitely not super technical, but it is a deep-dive into some areas related to articles I featured before. Plus it's just a fascinating story. Ronan Farrow presents how governments purchase and use spyware from groups like the NSO.
